1. 남북전쟁 시기 노래

1862년에 미국 작곡자 "조지 F. 루트"(Geroge Frederick Root)가 작곡하였다.

원래는 북부의 미합중국에서 불려지던 노래였으나, 남부의 작곡가 "H. L. 슈라이너"(H. L. Schreiner)와 작사가 "W. H. 반즈"(W. H. Barnes)에 의해 남부의 아메리카 연합국을 옹호하는 내용으로 개사되었다. 그 결과, 이 노래는 아메리카 연합국~~이라고 자칭하는 반란군 무리~~에서도 불러지기 시작했다.

Battle Cry of Freedom: The Civil War Era

존스 홉킨스 대학교의 역사학 교수인 제임스 맥퍼슨(James M. McPherson)이 쓴 책이다. 남북전쟁을 다룬 서적으로 제목의 유래는 당빠 동명의 노래. 1989년 퓰리처 상 역사 부문을 수상하였다.

안타깝게도 현재 국내에는 정발되지 않았다.
